Call Catcher — Frequently Asked Questions

Questions, answered.

Straight answers about how Call Catcher works, what powers it, and what happens to your customer's details.

Is Call Catcher a human call centre or AI?

It's neither — and that's the point. Call Catcher is powered by Intelligentle, a proprietary conversational intelligence framework built to communicate with the calm, clarity, and care of a great human operator — but with the consistency and speed of a system that never sleeps, never has a bad day, and never misses a message.

Think of the empathy and patience of a Mum — always present, never flustered, genuinely focused on the person in front of her. That’s the tone Intelligentle is trained to bring to every conversation. Warm, clear, unhurried — regardless of whether it’s the first enquiry of the day or the fiftieth.

Your customers won’t feel like they’re talking to a robot. They’ll get a response in your name, within seconds, that makes them feel heard and looked after — not processed.

Will my customers know it's not me personally responding?

Your customers receive a message from your business number, in your business name. The response is personalised, conversational, and focused on helping them — not on explaining the technology behind it.

Most customers simply appreciate getting a fast, helpful response. In our pilot testing, callers responded positively and engaged naturally with the conversation. The Intelligentle framework is specifically designed to remove friction and uncertainty — the two things that frustrate customers most when they can’t reach a business.

If a customer asks directly whether they’re speaking to a person, the system is designed to be transparent and redirect appropriately. We don’t deceive — we just respond fast and helpfully.

How quickly does Call Catcher respond after I miss a call?

The moment your phone goes unanswered, Call Catcher sends an SMS to the caller within seconds — automatically, in your name. There is no delay, no batch processing, and no manual step required on your end.

This speed matters because research shows 62% of missed trade calls go to a competitor within 10 minutes. By the time you’ve finished the job you were on and checked your voicemail, that lead is gone. Call Catcher makes sure your customer gets a response while they’re still thinking about you.

What happens to the job details after the customer replies?

Every conversation is captured and organised into your live job card — no app required. Urgent jobs are SMS'd to your phone immediately with the customer's name, suburb, issue, and a tap-to-call button. You reply ACCEPT and how long until you can get there, or DECLINE.

Everything else lands in your lunchtime digest (12:30pm) and EOD wrap (5:30pm) so you can review the day’s enquiries without interrupting your work. The job card gives you a clean list of every lead, their details, and their status — without you having to trawl voicemail or piece together missed calls from memory.

What does Call Catcher say and not say during triage?

Call Catcher's job is to make sure no customer feels ignored and every job detail gets captured. When someone texts in, it responds on your behalf — acknowledging them, gathering the key information you need, and flagging anything that sounds urgent or unsafe. It's not there to diagnose, quote, or commit. That's your call.

What Call Catcher does: reassures the customer they've been heard, gathers their name, suburb, issue, email address, and photos where relevant, and issues first-response safety language when certain keywords are detected.

What Call Catcher never does: commits to an appointment or timeframe, accepts or declines a job on your behalf, gives remedial or diagnostic advice, or quotes prices.

When a message suggests an electrical hazard, a water emergency, or an immediate safety situation, Call Catcher responds with appropriate caution — prompting the customer to take safe protective action where relevant. It might say: "That sounds dangerous — if you can safely reach the switchboard, you may want to turn the electricity off." Or for water: "If you can safely get to the main water tap, turning it off could help limit any damage." It will never tell a customer what's wrong, what to fix, or give remedial advice of any kind. Anything that sounds urgent is automatically SMS'd to you for when you next pick up the phone.

Is my customer data safe and private?

Yes. Every conversation and lead captured through Call Catcher belongs to you. We do not sell, share, or resell your data or your customers' data to any third party.

All data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Call Catcher complies with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. Every automated SMS includes the option to reply STOP to opt out, which is processed immediately. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
